Traditional Chinese Medicine, which oriented in China for more than 2500 years, now is more and more popular in the world, because of its amazing effect on human health.
but this brings new problem of counterfeiting, adulterating, and confusing Medicine in market.
Also, Fingerprint chromatography is used to authentication of Chinese Medicine species, However, it is a time-consuming and labor-consuming method to differentiate the species of the Medicine sample.
Recently, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) research team develop a new method, named direct ionization mass spectrometry (DI-MS), to detect the main active ingredient in lingzhi and Tianma, which are the most popular medicine in TCM. The new method only takes less than 10 minutes to authentication one sample. Moreover, it can be easily used as it not need special equipment. so we believe that this method will be widely used in market and improve the confusing medicine problem.
